PPYT History:

PPYT started life as Frimley Youth Theatre back in 2002, when a then member of Priory Players, Mel Overton, formed a very small group of youngsters with the aim to enjoy producing theatre. Mel was joined by helper Johnnie McMillan, and together they established the roots of the group. FYT's first production was "The Do It Yourself Frankenstein Outfit", in 2002. Unfortunately, Mel made the difficult decision to leave at the end of 2003 due to other commitments - Philip Gough, another member of Priory Players, was able to take over, offering a different management and directing style. Shortly after this, Johnnie sadly had to leave too, and so Ben Case made the transition from member to leader, with Pam Vincent eagerly taking up the role of helper. Ben had to leave for University after the February 2007 production, where Phil constructed a new team to continue PPYT's work.

Through Philip, FYT became PPYT, established more of a name for itself by joining the National Association of Youth Theatres and worked much closer with Priory Players, giving the group more support. This is why today, the members of PPYT enjoy the many and varied opportunities to perform and get involved with theatre - as well as having a laugh, too! Long may this continue.
